Winter Wonderland Adventures at Caldera Springs

Published on December 13, 2024

Ready to embrace the snowy season here in Central Oregon? From peaceful trail wandering to heart-pumping adventures, here’s your guide to making the most of winter at Caldera Springs.

Hit the Trails

Who needs a gym when you have nine miles of winter wonderland to explore? Our network of paved paths and soft trails becomes a snow-dusted playground during winter months. Grab your warmest hat and venture through frosted pines, across pristine meadows and along our picture-perfect lakes and streams. Pro tip: Keep your phone handy — you never know when you’ll spot a deer family making their way through the snow!

Snowshoe Your Way

Want to feel like you’re walking on clouds? Snowshoeing is your ticket to winter serenity. Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned pro, our trails offer the perfect terrain for floating across fresh powder. It’s like hiking, but with built-in leg warmers (aka snowshoes). Plus, it’s the perfect excuse to reward yourself with hot cocoa at the Lake House afterward.

Sled, Swoosh, Soak

Get ready for family thrills just steps from Forest House! Our natural sledding hill at Forest Park promises winter magic for all ages. No sled? No problem – grab one at the Forest House shop and let the fun begin. After conquering the hill (and taking “just one more run” a dozen times), warm up with a hot drink by our crackling outdoor fire pit or sink into the 900-square-foot soak pool. Open year-round, the heated pool lets you extend that winter magic long after the sun sets.

Chase the Fun at Sno-Parks

Bundle up and head to Central Oregon’s nearby sno-parks — Edison Butte, Wanoga, Virginia Meissner and Swampy Lakes — where snowy trails await! Whether you’re snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, sledding or revving up for a snowmobile adventure, these parks offer endless fun for all ages (and plenty of dog-friendly trails for your four-legged sidekick).

Don’t forget your Sno-Park permit! Grab one online here and get ready to explore these scenic spots where winter magic happens.

Fat Biking Fun

Yes, you can bike in the snow! Fat bikes are like the monster trucks of the bicycle world, with extra-wide tires that let you cruise right over the snow. Grab your rental from Sunriver Bike and Ski and hit the winter trails for an unforgettable adventure. It’s an entirely different way to experience our snowy landscape, and trust us — the looks on hikers’ faces when you smoothly roll past are priceless.

Mt. Bachelor: Your Ticket to Winter Bliss

Just two turns and twenty minutes away, Mt. Bachelor – the Pacific Northwest’s largest resort and 7th largest in North America – is waiting with open arms (or should we say slopes?). Whether you’re shredding powder, taking your first pizza-wedge turns, exploring snowy trails by snowshoe or dashing through the wilderness on a dog sled ride, the mountain is your oyster. With terrain for everyone from tiny tots to seasoned pros, Mt. Bachelor’s vast snowy playground offers endless ways to level up your winter game. Take in world-class skiing and snowboarding or simply cozy up at the lodge with a warm drink – the choice is yours.

From peaceful morning trails to exciting mountain adventures, winter at Caldera Springs is what you make it. So grab your gear, bring your sense of adventure and let’s make this winter one for the books.
