Your Guide to Golf at Caldera Springs and Sunriver Resort

Published on May 2, 2026

Central Oregon delivers one of the most complete golf experiences in the Pacific Northwest, and Caldera Springs places you right in the middle of it, located just outside Sunriver Resort. Together, the communities offer four courses, bringing the total to more than 63 holes.

Caldera Springs is a private residential resort community near Bend and Mt. Bachelor, where ponderosa pines, open meadows, and a network of lakes, ponds, creeks, and brooks move through the landscape and carry onto the courses. Fairways follow the natural terrain. Creeks cross playing lines. Ponds sit tight to greens.

Players move easily between options throughout the season. A quick round at Caldera Links before dinner. A full day at Sunriver Resort’s Crosswater, Meadows, or Woodlands courses. Practice facilities, instruction, and tee times all sit within a short distance in Sunriver Resort, making it easy to play often without needing to overplan.

This guide covers Caldera Springs and Sunriver Resort golf courses, 2026 rates, and tee times, along with what makes this part of Central Oregon such a strong place to play—and to own.

Caldera Links Golf Course at Caldera Springs

The walking-only, 9-hole Caldera Links Golf Course was designed for players of all skill levels, from kids picking up a club for the first time to experienced players looking to fine-tune their game. The round feels relaxed, social, and easy to fit into the day. The layout winds through lakes, ponds, and tree-lined paths that mirror the rest of the community, so heading out to play feels as natural as walking to the pool or setting out on the trails.

Bob Cupp and Sunriver Resort’s Jim Ramey shaped the course with tour-quality bentgrass greens and bluegrass tees, maintained daily. Holes range from 60 to 185 yards, keeping it approachable while still offering variety. Three regulation-length holes, available exclusively to Caldera Springs owners, give more experienced players a chance to dial in longer shots. Some rounds move quickly, while others turn into time spent on the putting and chipping greens with kids learning the game alongside you.

Sunriver Resort Golf: 63 Holes Across Four Courses

Three courses at Sunriver Resort anchor golf in Central Oregon, each with a distinct layout and personality. The setting moves between open meadow, river corridors, and dense stands of ponderosa pine.

Caldera Springs gives homeowners who are club members close access to Sunriver Resort’s courses, along with practice facilities, and instruction. Golfers can play a shorter round at Caldera Links one morning and a full 18 at Crosswater or Meadows the next afternoon.

Crosswater Golf Course at Sunriver Resort

Sunriver Resort’s signature course, Crosswater, was recognized by Golf Digest as one of “America’s 100 Greatest Courses.” The heathland-style layout has hosted PGA and USGA events and demands full attention from the first tee to the final green.

The course spans 600 acres of preserved wetlands and woodlands in Central Oregon, with the Deschutes and Little Deschutes Rivers coming into play as often as seven times in a single round depending on tee selection. Five tee placements on every hole change the way each one plays, giving different angles and distances from round to round. Bent grass fairways and greens run throughout.

Crosswater is a semi-private golf course, open to Crosswater golf members and resort guests.

Meadows Golf Course at Sunriver Resort

Architect John Fought designed the Meadows Golf Course as a tribute to the great American layouts of the 1920s and 30s, with seven holes bordering the Sun River, wide views, and more forgiving lines off the tee.

Meadows has hosted the PGA Cup and the NCAA Men’s Division I championship, among other events. Players who want a full 18 without the intensity of Crosswater often gravitate here. The design rewards positioning and steady play, making Meadows approachable while still holding interest across repeat rounds.

Meadows is a semi-private golf course, open to Sunriver Golf Club members and resort guests.

Woodlands Golf Course at Sunriver Resort

Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the Woodlands Golf Course layout through dense stands of ponderosa and lodgepole pine, with lava rock outcroppings defining certain holes and water appearing throughout the round. Accuracy off the tee matters more here than on any other course in the area.

The setting feels distinctly Central Oregon, with a more enclosed, textured landscape that plays very differently from Meadows or Crosswater.

Woodlands is a semi-private golf course, open to Sunriver Golf Club members and resort guests.

Tee Times, Golf Academy, and Year-Round Play at Sunriver Resort

Sunriver Resort supports more than rounds on the course. Advance tee times are available for  Sunriver Golf Club members and resort guests. The Golf Academy offers instruction, clinics, and junior programs with Class A PGA Professionals. Gray’s Trail, an 18-hole putting course behind The Lodge at Sunriver Resort, gives families and beginners a low-pressure way to play along the Little Sun River. An indoor GCQuad golf simulator by Foresight Sports keeps golfers engaged during the offseason, with virtual rounds available on Crosswater, Meadows, and Woodlands.

Peak season in Central Oregon runs through spring, summer, and early fall, and the long days make it easy to fit in a round after a morning on the water or an afternoon on the bike path.

Life at Caldera Springs Keeps Golf Close

Caldera Springs keeps golf close without needing to plan around it. Trails lead from neighborhoods to Caldera Links. Lakes, creeks, and ponds move through the community and carry onto the course. Sunriver Resort expands what’s available just beyond the community, with additional courses, dining, and recreation adding range without adding distance. Caldera Springs homeowners also have access to fitness, tennis and pickleball courts within the Caldera Springs community, and an extensive trail network that connects into Sunriver’s path system.
