Lakeside Grand Opening Welcomed Guests to Lava Springs Lake

Published on May 29, 2026

More than 100 guests gathered at Caldera Springs over Memorial Day Weekend to celebrate the Grand Opening of Lakeside, the first collection of waterfront vacation homes along Lava Springs Lake.

Guests toured two completed homes, enjoyed live music, light bites and signature cocktails, and spent the afternoon getting to know the newest vacation homes within Caldera Springs. Set in Sunriver just 15 miles south of Bend, the 1,000-acre residential resort community is known for its lakes, trails, dining and recreation amenities, making Lakeside’s waterfront setting an exciting addition to the growing community.

Guests Experienced Lakeside for the First Time

Floor-to-ceiling windows immediately drew attention as guests entered the great rooms. Natural light poured into the homes while views of Ponderosa pines and Lava Springs Lake framed everyday moments throughout the living spaces. Guests found themselves stopping at the windows, stepping onto the patios and talking about the setting as much as the homes.

Guests also had plenty to say about the craftsmanship. Conversations often centered on the quality of the finishes, the thoughtful layouts and the work of Bend-based builder Curtis Homes. Many visitors could easily picture family vacations, holiday gatherings and long weekends spent together in a home designed for exactly that purpose.

The Studio for Flexible Family Stays Sparked Conversation

The attached studio quickly became one of the most talked-about features during the event. One guest described it as “light, airy but cozy, and with a beautiful view.”

Each Lakeside residence includes a three-bedroom main home and a private one-bedroom studio with its own entrance, bathroom, kitchenette and patio. While many attendees appreciated the opportunity to generate rental income through both spaces as part of the Sunriver Resort Vacation Properties rental program, others immediately pictured how they would use it themselves.

Grandparents came up often in those conversations. Guests described the studio as the perfect retreat for family members who want a little privacy while remaining close to the rest of the group. The layout also sparked discussions about hosting friends, accommodating extended family and creating more comfortable multi-generational vacations at Caldera Springs.

The Bunk Room Became a Favorite Stop

The second-floor built-in bunk room and adjoining den/media room quickly became a top topic during the Grand Opening.

Guests could easily picture how the space would be used after a day outside. Kids piled in for movies. Cousins claimed bunks for the weekend. Parents had a place for everyone to wind down while the main living areas stayed open for conversation.

The space offers flexibility for larger groups while creating a dedicated area where family and guests can gather away from the main living areas. Many attendees viewed it as a practical feature that supports the way families vacation today.

Waterfront Living Along Lava Springs Lake

Lakeside brings vacation home ownership to the edge of Lava Springs Lake for the first time. Guests talked about the water views, the forested setting and how close the neighborhood sits to some of the most-loved amenities at Caldera Springs.

Forest House is just a short distance away, with pools, waterslides, fitness, dining and gathering spaces. Lake House, Caldera Links and the community trail system add even more ways to spend time outside, while nearby Sunriver Resort offers additional dining, golf and recreation throughout the year.

Attendees appreciated that Lakeside gives owners both sides of the Caldera Springs lifestyle: peaceful time by the water and easy access to the experiences that make this Central Oregon community so sought after.

Live Music, Great Food and Time Together

The event reflected the welcoming atmosphere that defines the Caldera Springs community.

Guests gathered around the dining table for light bites catered by Sunriver Resort, while signature beverages were served from the kitchen island bar. Outside, others settled in around the fire pit, listening to live music and taking in views of the surrounding forest and Lava Springs Lake.

The afternoon felt less like a traditional open house and more like a gathering of friends and neighbors imagining future vacations, family traditions and time spent together in Central Oregon.
